Ozzfest 2007 - Free

You heard it right. Tickets to the 2007 Ozzfest tour would be absolutely free, all you gotta do is register well ahead of time. Ozzfest has been has been the most successful rock music festival in the US for the past 11 years. Be on your toes and lookout for the tickets. I don't think they would last that long this year :)

Did you know that - "The festival has been instrumental in igniting the careers of System Of a Down, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Incubus, Slipknot, Godsmack and Queens of Stoneage."

So keep an eye on ozzfest dot com and/or livenation dot com to find links where tickets can be secured.

Tool on tour again

Tool have announced that they would be on tour again this year with their new album 10,000 days. It was fun last time I'd been to one of their concerts. Chances are, I'd find myself in one of those closed domes again this year. The Laser show they put up the last time was amazing !!!

Tool comes up with its own kind of music again. Vicarious is probably the best song in their new album - 10,000 days. This song is about American obsession with the television, and "Living Vicariously" through various television characters. It also touches upon the American obsession with violence in television, a very psychological view on how we as a culture tend to need to watch other people or things die in order to continue feeling good about our own lives, and how when a war occurs (The Iraq War) we tend to need to watch "While the whole world dies."

Bollywood Songs and Oscar

They simply cant keep bollywood out of the mix. It took some time to get the much needed recognition but now we see that even the OSCAR academy is considering songs from the Bollywood world. They say that Bollywood is synonymous with musicals.

All the three nominations are those composed by AR Rahman. One movie that stood out last year (both in terms of music and direction/movie) was Rang De Basanti.

Rakeysh Mehra, director of "Basanti," says it was difficult to choose among the many songs in that film, but he went with Rahman's choices. Songs in 'Basanti,' are like the soul of the movie. UTV has submitted "Khalbali" and "Luka Chuppi" from the movie. Also, tune from the movie "Water" has been nominated as Canada's foreign-language candidate.

Evanescence - The Open Door

The Open Door was one of the hit albums that was released this year by Evanescence. It has the usual voice harmonizing done superbly by Amy Lee and the guitar play - another trademark of theirs.

The best one from this album is "Call Me When You're Sober". All their songs have a bit of Goth and a bit of Industrial rock in them (if you've listened to their albums). Some of them even have a hint of Classical stuff.

There's a lot to learn from this though, its a full blistering attack on those who have betrayed Amy. People who like this song describe themselves as Weird, Stubborn and Open minded ; the dominant color is Black - well goth and black go together right ;-)
